any ideas on why people refuse to legalize marijuana?

i am still wondering why they wont legalize this stuff, they always say that increases crime and violence rate. But if you think about it why would a person who is happy, relaxed and mellowed would want to start a fight? Some medical studies even show that using marijuana discourages violent behavior

Yep. I read somewhere that in India, crime rate was actually less than when people were not allowed to smoke weed during holidays or worshiping or somethin.

Perhaps people tend to not become content with what they can get in small doses. Higher doses usually makes you do things you don't know anymore. As you will be hallucinating more often than not.

As they say, too much of everything is dangerous. People with some medical issues might worsen with the unlimited use of MJ. I think smoking a joint every once in a while is better than dying because of too much joint.

i agree with Jane D. Too much of something is considered bad. it is applicable in the use of loco weed. loco weed is used as analgesic but it could gives another effect when used in large amount.

Remember when opium was legal in China? the result was opium war. Really, we cannot emphasize more on "too much is very dangerous." I think it adds to the rush if you do something illegal-- just saying y'all!

from where i came from, the more you ban something the more people crave for it and consequently makes it more expensive. legalizing marijuana is against the interest of shrewd and corrupt politicians who get fat envelopes from the illegal trade.

if they legalize mj, the price would definitely go down and it would not be a money maker anymore for select corrput politicians. they just want the cash flowing in non-stop.

cant get enough of this topic hehehe. take the case of liquor, why is it legal? people can get addicted to it also but how come its legal? legalizing mj is really a political issue andprobably not because of any scientific findings. where's my weed? LOL

try comparing Mj with other drugs and even alcohol, did anybody die from an overdose of marijuana? but liquor and other drugs? compare it even with prescription drugs. Thousands die every year from an overdose of liquor and other drugs, but MJ? I think Mj is probably the safest drug there is out there.
